Pattison-The Waller County Child Welfare Board, Sam Eng, and Marvin Hood have sponsored projects at Royal ECC during the 2015-2016 school year. Among the many projects were funding for Family Math Night and the movie tickets for N.E.A.T. award winners. Never Ever Absent or Tardy (N.E.A.T.) awards are given every nine weeks period. Children are selected through a random drawing from all students that have had perfect attendance for the year and have never been tardy.

The Waller AFJROTC Orienteering Team was named the 2015-2016 State Champion at their final orienteering meet of the season. Orienteering is a running sport in which competitors use a detailed map and compass to navigate unfamiliar terrain. It is also referred to as a “thinking sport,” as competitors are charged with searching for terrain features identified on a map and must complete their quest in three hours or less. The courses are generally six or seven miles, and are filled with hills, valleys, streams and other obstacles.

The Hempstead FFA Dairy Cattle Judging team is one of five teams to advance to State after competing in the 2016 FFA Area III competition held at Tarleton State University on April 13. Members of the team advancing to state are Jessica Harvey, Alex Schmidt, Justin Herbert, Makayla Wawarofsky, and Zach Pirkle (alternate).
