Better, and getting better. That’s what Royal football Head Coach Eric Robinson saw from his Falcons in the second-and- last scrimmage of the 2016 season on Thursday (Aug. 18) at Sealy.“We were more physical, and played harder for a longer period of time than in the first scrimmage,” he said. “We’re still moving pieces around and getting the right mix, and it was good to see us improving in many areas. There were some good things happening and we’re moving in the right direction.”

Royal ISD – Royal Lady Falcons volleyball had two victories on Friday (Aug. 19) with a 29-27, 25-15 win against Tidehaven at the Ganado Maiden Tournament, and a 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 15-8 triumph over Bay City later in the day in a home match at Royal High School. The Lady Falcons entered this week with a 3-7 season record and have already matched last season’s total number of wins.

Royal football played the first of two scrimmages at West Columbia on Friday (Aug. 12, 2016) and Head Coach Eric Robinson knows it was a good outing for his Falcons. “We had some bright spots on defense, we have to get better offensively and there were positives on both sides of the ball,” he said. “We’re fitting the pieces of the puzzle into the right spots and the kids held their own against a good West Columbia team that advanced to the 4A Division 1 playoffs a year ago. We know we have to improve, and that’s what scrimmages are all about.
