Prairie View – Following an ordinance August 25, 2015, by Mayor Frank Jackson that was presented to and approved by the city council, University Boulevard where Sandra Bland was arrested was renamed Sandra Bland Parkway in honor of the sacrifice and injustice suffered by Bland, a young African American activist who often spoke-out about racial injustices.

The Royal SkillsUSA competed Friday, April 1st through April 3rd, at the State SkillsUSA Competition in Corpus Christi, Texas. Royal came away with many awards, ribbons, plaques and even a state champion banner! Royal competed against other skills contestants from all across the state of Texas from 1A-6A. Royal SkillsUSA members represented Royal ISD very well!
