Question raised over reasons for proposed river road closing Dora Ann Gostecnik, who lives on Diemer Road along the Brazos River, spoke August 17 during the Waller County Commissioners Court agenda item that read: to close, abandon, vacate or otherwise alter a part of Diemer Road between Garrett and Mt. Zion Roads.
Royal – Royal ISD and Willow River Farms recognized the outstanding community service of the Royal bus drivers. These bus drivers left the safety of their own homes to assist with rescuing not only Royal ISD families during the flooding in April and May, but also, the residents of Willow River Farms.

Better, and getting better. That’s what Royal football Head Coach Eric Robinson saw from his Falcons in the second-and- last scrimmage of the 2016 season on Thursday (Aug. 18) at Sealy.“We were more physical, and played harder for a longer period of time than in the first scrimmage,” he said. “We’re still moving pieces around and getting the right mix, and it was good to see us improving in many areas. There were some good things happening and we’re moving in the right direction.”
Royal ISD – Royal Lady Falcons volleyball had two victories on Friday (Aug. 19) with a 29-27, 25-15 win against Tidehaven at the Ganado Maiden Tournament, and a 23-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 15-8 triumph over Bay City later in the day in a home match at Royal High School. The Lady Falcons entered this week with a 3-7 season record and have already matched last season’s total number of wins.

Bundles of Hope, the Brookshire Police Department, The Brookshire Volunteer Fire Department and The Clutch Crew recently held its annual school supply drive. Each year Royal ISD students are provided with free school supplies.
