In a joint effort by the Brookshire Police Department, Waller County Sheriff’s Department and the Waller County DA’s Office, the Joy Amusement game room was raided and closed June 25. In business for approximately two months, the joint agencies reacted quickly to bring the illegal business to a close.

Cathy Cunningham used to live in a powder blue log cabin across the road from an idyllic river gently flowing through Wimberly. Then the river went on a rampage. You saw some of the photos on the news, but the ripples of that flash flood still carry the heartbreak into Waller County. Cathy, who is related to many Waller County residents, also lost her last son Dunn Morehead in November 2014.
On May 8, 2015, Alyssa Beyer graduated Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.6 from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences and minored in Secondary Education. While at Sam Houston State, Alyssa held an officer position with her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. Alyssa is pursuing a career in teaching. She is a former honor graduate of Royal High School. She is the daughter of Kevin and Lynette Beyer of Pattison.
The Waller County 4H Horse Club would like to announce the awarding of a $3000 scholarship to Eli McFarlane. Eli received this scholarship to assist her at The University of St. Thomas where she will study Environmental Science.

Congratulations to Jesus Otero for winning first place in Charcoal Sketch on the national level of the Junior Beta Club. The competition was part of the National Junior Beta Convention held at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee June 25-29. The Mary J. Ragston Chapter of Junior Beta from Hempstead Middle School earned the invitation to compete at the national level by placing in three events at the Texas Junior Beta Convention last February. Winning on the national level is quite an accomplishment and an honor for Hempstead Middle School.
